Different Ways to Smoke Your Flower

So you’ve just bought some cannabis or hemp flower and are looking for a way to use that flower as intended. Or perhaps you have a bit of extra spending money this paycheck and are looking for your next smoking rig, either way, there are a ton of different smoking or vaping platforms that are worth checking out.

Joints and Hand Rolls

The most traditional and preferred method to smoke flowers is by using good old-fashioned manually rolled joints, blunts, or spliffs. The three varieties each differ in their amount of cannabis or hemp flower and whether they are combined with anything else like tobacco. Joints for instance are often on the smaller side and only contain ground-up flowers, a rolling paper to put them in, and a filter to inhale the smoke through.

Blunts, on the other hand, are hollowed-out cigars that can hold much more ground flowers. Blunts also typically are made of tobacco wrappings that hold some extra tastes to spice up your smoke sessions. Spliffs are a mixture of flower and tobacco which some people prefer due to the nicotine boost alongside the high, which can be great for those movements when you need an energy boost and want to enjoy a high.

Hand Pipes

Another common classic is the glass-made hand pipe which is likely the most common smoking equipment in use today. These small pipes are easy to hold in one hand and typically come in a wide variety of aesthetic designs and are quite simple to use. Simply put your ground herb in the bowl, light your cannabis or hemp up and puff puff pass through the mouthpiece on the other end.

Bubblers and Bongs

These are often large glass pipes that require water to work. In fact, some studies suggest water filtration helps keep our particulate matter and other harsh substances which can help keep your smoke session clean and easy on your lungs. Before using a bong, the user needs to fill the water chamber via the top opening. Once the water level goes past the down tube on the bottom then you’ve hit a good water level. The ground-up flower is then put into the mouthpiece and light for a long period of time with a torch or wick.

When lighting the flower you’ll notice the entire water chamber begins to fill with water vapor. Now it’s time to take the bowl out or clear the chamber, place your mouth over the top opening mouthpiece and inhale. The benefit here is you get a huge hit with a tiny amount of flower and can stretch out more with less. One of the most popular bong varieties is the Gravity bong which uses two individual chambers. One chamber filters the smoke through water, and the other captures every bit of water vapor so you get “all” of the flower.

One Hitter

These are the smallest smoking devices and as their name suggests, are good for just one hit. Often these look like cigarettes (on purpose) but are actually made from metal. The end tip can then hold a tiny bit of ground-up bud. These are good for people who want a more discrete option when smoking or for those who just want a little hit during a busy day instead of a gobsmacking cloud of vapor from something like a bong.

Hookahs

Speaking of clouds, there is one more device that the most extreme of users prefer due to their ability to produce ungodly amounts of smokeable reprieve. Hookahs are similar to bongs in that they use water but in a different way. When using a Hookah the goal is to produce a massive and continuous “cloud” of smoke. Ash or coals are placed on top of the tray which heats the bowl filled with the ground-up herb. When a user inhales the smoke is passed underwater to cool down the smoke, this method produces enough to get entire rooms high.
