Tips in Buying Online Swimwear for Full-Figured Women in Australia

The sun is out about 75% of the time in Australia. It is one of the reasons why people gravitate to the beach. Not only is it a chance to show off their figure, but they can also cool off on hot days. Although Bondi Beach is probably the most recognisable attraction in the country, it is not even the best spot among locals. There are better beaches there, such as Lizard Island in Queensland, Mandalay Beach in Walpole, Wineglass Bay in Tasmania, and Whitehaven Beach in Queensland.

According to estimates, the swimwear market size was valued at $19 billion in 2018. Women are more likely to buy a bikini than a one-piece, so much so that they would starve themselves right before their planned visit to the beach. However, in recent years, there has been an uptick in full figure swimwear in Australia. More manufacturers are changing their designs and marketing strategies to target plus-size women, much to the relief of everybody.

Here are some tips when you are trying to purchase full figure swimwear in Australia online:

Measure your size

Be realistic about your body. List down the measurement for your waist, bust, and hips. If you have some old swimsuits in the house, try them on and see if they still fit. There should be some measurements on the label, which should serve as your basis when you buy online.

Opt for tiered ruffles

This is recommended for those with larger waistlines. The different layers will creatively mask your waist. Another choice is the shirring cut, which will create a slimming illusion.

Know your body type

If you are looking for full figure swimwear in Australia, you should know being full-figured essentially means that your clothing size is bigger than average. But your body shape remains the same. Know if you are apple-shaped, pear-shaped, rectangular-shaped, triangle-shaped, or have an hourglass figure. For small torsos, an empire cut will help create an elongated effect due to the skirted part found on the tummy area.

Even if the size fits you, the style might not suit your body type.

For women with larger busts, choose swimwear with ample support up top. There should be some swimsuits that are advertised as such. For smaller busts with wider hips (pear-shaped), you can choose tops with bright colours or loud patterns to draw the eyes upwards. Halter tops will also work to draw attention to your shoulders and away from your hips.

If you prefer two-piece swimsuits, you can choose the tankini instead. A tankini is typically made of spandex and cotton, as well as lycra and nylon. It is a combination of a bikini bottom and a tank top. They are versatile and you can mix-and-match several pieces and brands.

Today, plus-size fashion has become a huge industry. Every season, you will see a new trend in terms of silhouette and pattern. It has become easier for fuller-figured women to find a style that best suits their personality and body type. Posting swimwear photos on social media is now possible!
