It’s frustrating when you keep telling your kids to put their phones down, but they can’t. They will ask for a few more minutes. They will even ignore you when you show how angry you are. You don’t want to stress out over the use of their phones. The first thing to do is to determine why your kids got addicted to their phones and find a way to solve it.
Lack of attention
You keep getting angry with your kids when, in reality, you’re the reason behind the phone addiction. Your lack of time and attention at home made them resort to their phones. They feel comforted because of their phones and the people they make connections with. They start to compensate for the attention they lack at home with what they can obtain through their phones. It means that you have to start changing your schedule so you can spend more time with your kids at home.
Social anxiety
Making friends online is easy. You can even make anonymous accounts and pretend to be someone you’re not. Therefore, kids with social anxiety feel more confident when they socialise online. To help them, you need to introduce them to a playgroup. You also have to talk to them about their anxiety when facing other people. Perhaps, allowing them to join clubs with other kids of the same age could help.
Game addiction
Several games are available these days. Whether your child is into speed games or mental games, they can get what they want online. The key is not to ban them from playing. Instead, you need to tell them when to play. You can also give them bonus gaming hours if they accomplished something significant. Another way to help them is by introducing games that are fun, but also educational. You want them to spend their time playing and learning at the same time.
Research
Education these days involves technology. It’s unwise not to maximise the use of technology to learn. It’s probably not nice to request to put the phone down and you find out they just do research to write custom law essays. It means that before you get angry with your child for using their phone, you need to know if it’s about research. You don’t want to discourage your child from learning and being resourceful by taking away the phone when it’s used for studying.
The point is that children could have many reasons for using their phones. As a parent, you need to be responsible for telling them what to do. You also have to help them reduce their screen time and focus on other things that are also exciting. If they can’t help it, you can at least give them emf protection. You know that it’s a risk to continuously use a phone, due to radiation. You can at least reduce that risk through protective devices. They will block radiation from penetrating the body. It’s a gradual process of helping your child to become less attached to their phone, and you need to be more understanding.
