Simple Tips to Style a Fascinator

Fascinators have been a staple in the cupboards of elite English women since ages now. However, over the recent years the hair accessory has become quite a hot trend. Women from all over the world, elite or not, are donning these at special dinner parties, to the races and big weddings. We believe the Royal weddings and the impeccably dressed Duchess, Kate Middleton has quite a lot of contribution in making fascinators a global trend. So, if you also want to rock one of these beauties at an upcoming special event then here are our tips and tricks to style it to perfection.

1. Pick the right color

The color of your fascinator should not only compliment the color of your outfit but also the color of your shoes and handbag for a very cohesive look. That does not mean you have to match the colors perfectly but try to keep them in the same color family for a timeless look. You can also go the modern route and use the fascinator to add a pop of color to a neutral look. Make sure you pick a color that flatters your skin tone as well as the color of your hair.

2. Find what suits your hair

The length and texture of your hair is a major determining factor when it comes to buying the perfect fascinator and styling it right. If you have think, coarse hair then your hair would have enough grip to hold fascinators with combs. If you have straight hair which is silky then bands are a very safe choice whereas medium hair can do well with clips. It is a wise idea to not wash your hair the very day you decide to style it as it might get too silky. So, do your hair care routine the previous day.

3. Get the right hairstyle

Donut buns quite an easy hairstyle to master by yourself at home and is sleek enough to compliment any type of fascinator. The French roll hairstyle is also quite a chic look and goes well with most fascinators. If you are not a fan of the sleek look then braided bun will give you hair a little texture to show. Make sure to place the braid on opposite side of the fascinator to show the best of both worlds. You can also choose to keep your hair open with well defines luxurious curls or style a short bob with a hair iron and wear a fascinator with a band to keep it securely in your hair throughout the entire day. Generous use of hair spray which gives your hair good hold is a great way to achieve a look that not only looks polished but also stays in place all day even with a heavy headgear.

4. Right, left or center?

Traditionally women wore fascinators to the right side of their head so if you are going for a traditional look then you know which way to go. However, a fascinator on the left is quite modern. You can also make a bold fashion statement JJ’s House by placing a small fascinator in the center of your forehead.
