Public health is a domain that deals with health matters on a general level. Living in a community or a society gives rise to many health-related concerns to psychological, social, behavioral, and many others. Usually, people living in an organization are not very well aware of dealing with public health concerns. The healthcare professionals’ job is to deal with and treat general health issues and problems.
In today’s era, where we are getting hit with multiple diseases, challenges, and calamities, it is crucial to learn about public health concerns and deal with them. For any individual’s growth, one must maintain a good and healthy routine and be aware of the different health issues that have occurred by living an unhealthy life.
Our population is increasing day by day. We need public health professionals to meet the challenges of promoting and protecting vulnerable communities’ health issues. To serve at-risk communities, public health professionals are in demand for both rural and urban. And because of the need, students attract more towards healthcare. To pursue a career in this field, students have many choices to choose any health course. For instance, a BPH and MPH degree can provide them the knowledge required to serve the community well.

Obesity
One of the leading public health concerns is obesity. The U.S. adult obesity rate stands at 42.4 percent, and it is the first time the rate has crossed the 40% barrier. It is an alarming situation, indeed! Obesity gives birth to dozens of illnesses such as heart diseases, kidney failures, etc. So, it is imperative to control the growing obesity among adults and children. There are numerous ways to keep your body weight in control, such as avoiding an unhealthy diet, adapting to an active routine, and taking immediate medical attention if you suspect any unusual body weight gain.
Air pollution
Due to massive industrial growth, many vehicles, all forms of pollution, and air pollution have become much of a concern. Air pollution is hazardous because it affects human beings’ respiratory tract, leading to multiple life-threatening diseases. Even a healthy person with no pre-existing illness can become severely ill by breathing in polluted air. There is a sheer need for effective measures to control air pollution, including less emission of harmful substances such as burning coal, cleaner processes, and cleaner devices for the emission of smoke in the air. The government should keep a check on the massively growing transport to control it and make relaxing electric vehicles’ policies.
Climate change
Climate change has become a developing concern over the years now. Drastic climatic changes occur every year now. Global warming, droughts, less snowpack, melting glaciers, higher temperatures are all the signs of climatic changes. These changes affect the people in multiple ways, and sometimes they lead to shortages of food. Sometimes, the heavy flooding sweeps away the communities destroying the infrastructure and ruining people’s lives and resources. Hence, climate change is one of the monsters now.
Climate change is an irreversible process now because it is natural. It is not something humans can control. The need of the hour is to protect and prepare a defense against it. Build more substantial houses that can withstand the weather’s harshness, weatherize, buy energy-efficient appliances, reduce water wastage, and stay updated regarding weather forecasts!
Alcohol consumption
Alcohol, the root of hundreds of illnesses! It is a curse that can never leave a human life no matter what. It is indeed, shocking! Alcohol destroys the liver, a vital organ of the human body, causing hepatitis, jaundice, liver cirrhosis, and ultimately liver failure; it damages the kidneys and maximizes the adverse effects on the heart as well. One should give up the consumption of alcohol to live a healthy life. The government should organize an awareness campaign to educate people about the harmful effects of alcohol. There should be a check on the selling of alcohol to keep it restricted.
Substance abuse
Substance abuse is also widespread nowadays. Young children are becoming addicted to drugs that are quite dangerous for their mental and physical well-being. If a society or community becomes habitual of such noxious activities, then the whole society is destroyed. Governments should take specific measures to give awareness about the drastic effects that they cause on the human body and should run awareness campaigns to educate people and encourage them to live a drug-free life. We can see this now with federal vs. state drug laws–take Indiana drug testing for example, their regulations vary slightly with federal statutes.
HIV/AIDS
We are entirely aware of HIV. It stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, the most dangerous virus in the world transmitted through sexual contact. HIV attacks the human body’s white cells responsible for the defense mechanism and makes them weak, making the human body vulnerable to other infections. If a person develops AIDS, his immune system gets destroyed, and he becomes incurable.
Health awareness programs that educate people about being careful and taking precautions before having sexual contact, safe sex education, screening tests serve a great deal.
Heart disease and stroke
Heart disease is the primary cause of death in the U.S. It is becoming more and more common among individuals. At first, only old age people face this issue, but now it is becoming common in younger people. It has raised many concerns on national and international levels. Although there is a considerable advancement in the medical field, there is still no significant drop in rising heart diseases. The answer to this question is simple: it cannot be stopped or cured by prescribing medicines. Heart disease is a problem that is mainly related to your physical fitness status and lifestyle habits.
If you want to avoid heart disease problems and strokes in your life, you should adopt an active, agile, and healthy lifestyle. Eat a healthy diet, do regular exercise, and avoid stress.
Conclusion
Harmony and understanding between people or between a person’s internal affairs is key to the survival and regeneration of a healthy and blossoming society. It is the responsibility of every individual to educate others about public health concerns and their cures and solutions. Together we build a happy and healthy community free of alcohol, drug abuse, devastation, HIV, heart diseases, obesity.
