How To Manage Stress in Everyday Life

Juggling between work and commitments, we often get no time to relax. The overwhelming schedule hardly leaves time to unwind. This will undoubtedly lead to stress and anxiety, causing both mental and physical health to suffer.

Therefore, anxiety needs to be fought. This generation is comparatively very accepting towards mental health, but still, the stigma related to it isn’t gone. Before you make a visit to the therapist, try the following self-help tips that are sure to help you a lot. Take the guide:

1) Sleep is Important

Going to bed early and getting a good night’s sleep is one of the first steps one can take to improve anxiety. Not getting enough sleep makes a person feel weak and a sense of annoyance prevails, which can increase the level of anxiety. Keep your mobile phones away while trying to sleep. Also, a hot cup of chamomile tea creates an aura of perfect sleep.

2) Limited Social Media

Social media can increase anxiety levels at an unprecedented rate. It has many opinions about politics, personal issues etc. The pressure to be on trend is dreadful. Social media is where your business becomes everybody’s business. A person with anxiety will already have many thoughts and overthinking to curb online opinions shouldn’t be one.

3) Use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Therapy can sound daunting at first, but once done, it can reduce a lot of your stress level, and you’ll know the cause behind your anxiety. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on how one can change their negative thoughts and be positive, thus, reducing stress and achieving goals.

4) Eat and Drink Healthy

Eating fresh fruits, vegetables, juices etc. is good for health. Some specific foods help in reducing stress such as whole wheat bread, fish and Greek yogurt. Coffee should be banned for a person with anxiety as it increases heart palpitations.

5) Reading

Reading not only increases a person’s knowledge and vocabulary but also provides a sense of serenity. Many people who go through anxiety read a lot of self-help books and inspirational quotes to keep them going. Reading on how to overcome this dark hole and implying it makes a lot of difference.

6) Go Green

A glass of green vegetable juice in the morning can be a very good start to the day. It’s not only about eating healthy, but you can also start a small kitchen garden in the house where you can de-stress your anxiety by gardening and watering the plants.

7) Self-care

Taking care of yourself is one of the easiest ways to curb anxiety and will make you feel self-sufficient. From getting a day off to just watching movies, getting a manicure, pedicure done or even buying flowers for oneself can be self-care. You can also buy flowers online and get it delivered to your doorstep. Make your day cheerful with flowers that smell good and instantly lighten up your mood. If you can’t get to the salon, at home nail kits be just as good.

8) Exercise

Exercise is natural anti-anxiety medicine. With exercise comes meditation, clearing one’s mind with all the negative thoughts. People who exercise every day are 25% less prone to anxiety. Exercise can work as a boon as it acts as a distraction for many people. Swimming, dancing and aerobics also work like that.

9) Accepting it

Accepting is difficult, but not impossible. Once a person accepts that he or she has anxiety, it becomes easy for them to be treated. Having anxiety is not a curse. Circumstances won’t stop you from becoming a better person. All you have to do is fight anxiety back.

The key here is to keep oneself calm and keep yourself extremely busy and occupied. These tips are useful for short term healing, but if anxiety increases, help should be taken.
