In the Know: Top Places in the U.S. to Pop the Question

Look, no matter where you pop the question, it is always going to be a significant and special moment. You can ask her to marry you in the middle of the grocery store, and it will still be perfect. But if you can make the extra effort of popping the question in the most romantic little cottage in Vermont, then that will be extra special for you.

You might have given herpromise rings in the middle of your high school corridor. Why not make your proposal extra special by doing it on top of the Empire State Building or the Grand Canyon? You can create a moment that she will remember forever by taking the extra time to plan an enchanting proposal.

Woodstock, Vermont

Woodstock is the closest you can get to the fictional Stars Hollow of Gilmore Girls. It’s a sleepy town that’s too picturesque for words. You can book a room at the famous Woodstock Inn and pop the question while you’re walking along the Green Mountains. It’s also home to the Sleepy Hollow Farm, one of the most photographed farms in New England. And if you fall in love with Vermont, you might want to get married there, too.

Central Park, New York City

It’s cliché, yes, but there’s a reason it’s one of the most popular engagement spots. Surrounded by lush greens and the bustle of America’s most exciting city,Central Parkis a dream. You can walk to the far end of the park near the Conservatory Water for a more secluded spot to pop the question. And just in case you’re wondering, yes, you can get married in the park and have your reception at The Loeb Boathouse.

Big Sur, California

It’s one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The view is breathtaking. If you’re the kind of outdoorsy couple who enjoys hiking, why not schedule a date on top of the cliff and pop the question there? You’ll have the perfect backdrop. And if you have a photographer-friend, take them with you. This is one picture-perfect moment you don’t want to lose.

Grand Canyon, Arizona

There are a few places on Earth more magnificent than the Grand Canyon National Park. You can take your special someone for an early morning helicopter ride, then have a picnic under the stars as the day draws to a close. Ask for their hand in marriage while looking at the marvelous feat of nature.

Napa Valley, California

If you’re a lover of wines and romantic restaurants, Napa Valley is the perfect setting for your proposal. Take a stroll along the many wineries in the valley and have an intimate dinner at one of those farm-to-table restaurants. Once you get all romantic and sentimental, it’s time to ask the question.

While there are plenty of romantic spots to propose in the U.S., what matters is your intentions to commit to this person forever. As long as you have both decided to take the plunge, you’ll be fine no matter where you pop the question. Although it’s a nice idea to propose while riding in a helicopter above the Hudson River, make sure that you’re fully committed to the idea of marriage rather than any romantic gesture.
