Workplaces around the world: Important items that I keep on hand
1. Bright colored post it notes
Bright colored square post it notes are incredibly handy as they can be placed on important contracts, documents and folders as well as on your walls and whiteboards. I have a habit of placing my goals for the day on different colored post it notes on the small whiteboard which I have on my office wall. As I accomplish the task on each post it note, I take the corresponding post it note down.
If you ever get overwhelmed by the amount of work which you have to complete in a day, you may find this process will motivate you to work more efficiently.
2. Different colored white board markers
While most individuals rely on black white board markers, I find it handy to have blue, red and green whiteboard markers on hand, so that all the information which I write on my whiteboard doesn’t get mixed up. As an example, I primarily use a blue white board marker for ideas that pop into my head and a green white board marker for financial figures.
If you plan on hosting a brain storming session with a team member, partner or client, it’s also a great idea to use different colored white board markers so that they don’t get confused by all the information which you write up on your white board.
3. Digital international clock
As my business is an international business and I have clients all over the world, I find it incredibly handy to have a large international clock, which features the current time and date in different cosmopolitan cities quite handy. As while I could look at an app on my phone, often it’s much easier to simply glance up from my desk to see the large digital international clock which hangs on my main wall.
4. A cork board
As well as having a whiteboard my office also features a large cork board which I can pin items that I print out onto. I also pin up inspirational quotes and my favorite scenic vacation snaps on my cork board, to add a bit of personality to my office space.
So if you’re looking to add a bit of decor to your office space whilst making your office space a little more functional, it’s well worth picking up a cheap cork board at your local office supplies store.
5. Woven rectangular baskets
I was inspired to use woven rectangular baskets in my office after traveling overseas and seeing a business partners office. In one large woven rectangular basket I place all of the mail I’ve received and sorted into various folders while in a medium rectangular basket I store all of my extra stationary. Which I keep on hand so that as soon as my pen, staplers or high lighters run out, I have a replacement on hand.
So there you have it, five items that I couldn’t live without and use on a daily basis and which I recommend that you add to your work space.
