@Brooke vs. the World – As per GRRRL Traveler, it’s now dubbed the Chanel of backpacks.
oooh lah lah – nice pick girl!
@Ryan & Liz – LOL! Dammit, I resemble that remark. :)
Sweet bag you have there! I feel like it almost matches your website. Haha. Love the site layout BTW.
@GRRRL TRAVELER – No worries! I knew what you meant. LOL. I never thought of it as the Chanel of backpacks, but there ya be. My personal style is stamped on everything really. :)
Wow– So you’re totally going to Chanel it thru the developing countries, eh? LOL. Gorgeous bag! If you’re gonna do it big, might as well do it in style ;-)
BTW- I commented on the wrong article- I accidentally meant it for the “Preaching to the Converted” one! So sorry. That totally shows you how retarded teaching EFL in Korea has made my mind! I will cut & paste!
@Vincent – I heard the Ospreys are also superior. Listen to us, comparing. Are we travelers or something?
@GRRRL TRAVELER – It is a bit harder for you, because you have to deal with culture and language shock, I only had sheer boredom and melancholy. Oh, you are tempting me – I think we’d have a fine time in Korea and I want to talk bizness with you.. alongside pleasure!
@Shannon OD – I won’t be in Europe any time soon, but great tip on the jeans!
@BraveandDandy – Haha. I won’t miss it in a bus station or airport conveyor belt. :)
That is a nice one. I got an Ospry Aether 70. Honestly, it’s probably a little too big for my trip, but you have to have room for souvenirs right?
Congrats!
Hey there Grrrl Wonder! Looks like you’ve covered all bases & thanks for the mention. I didn’t see your link-back until now, so apologies for the delay. There are moments when being a newbie expat & a EFL Teacher can obviously feel brutally draining & a juggle. The “easy life” you imagined occasionally feels hard. Perhaps that’s the 9-5 culture that you live and i’m just getting to know. heh, heh. How do you make it balance out? You travel! ;-) I think you should plot a stopover in Korea on your way out this way– we need to get a drink!
Love the bag pick – and it looks perfect. I travel with a 52 ltr so you should be all set – and doubly good with the side zip, I traveled with a friend who only had top loading and it was disastrous! As for the jean comments I saw here, I always have a pair with me and I’ve never regretted it – I have a pair of fancy travel pants as wel, and they’re great too, but sometimes, jeans are just where it’s at, particularly if you go to Europe :-)
@Nomadic Chick – They should! So much better then grey!
@Kyle – Kyle – I never take jeans – they take far too long to dry. If I think it will be cold (and I try to plan to avoid really cold weather) I take very light weight thermal underwear. Takes up very little room. And a fleece – if I thought that was going to take up too much room I’d buy one of those packing cubes that compress. But I know guys’ clothes take up more room.
@Nomadic Chick – Well, you’re a lot younger than I am, so you can probably handle more weight, lol! Good luck. Pity you’ll leave Vancouver before I get there.
@Kyle – Yeah, I thought about 50 L, full top loader, no other zip access, but I like a bit of zip access, could lead to my downfall. And since my routes are hazy — more room the better– always keeping in mind to pack frugally.
@Jen Laceda – Hm… 60 ish L pack – bet you could fit in, with new baby in tow! I’ll email you with some Toronto dates. :)
@Joel – Ohh, you’d like that comical video of me stumbling, wouldn’t you? I foresee a Funny or Die skit. :)
@Andi – I would, if I could sew! Any volunteers on sewing?
@Josh | The Wander Project – It was bizarre. It certainly felt like the bag found me. As soon as I began walking around with it on, a voice dinged in my head, “This is the ONE. Buy it.” Hopefully this doesn’t mean I’m delusional and believe backpacks talk to me.
@BraveandDandy – Hehe, the office finder. Perhaps they should paint cubicles the same?
@Kathy aka mytimetotravel – Ack, I kinda messed up. I had listed the features of Briza 62 & 75. So, the ice pick axe holder is for the 75. Consider it corrected. You make some valid points, there is a bottom zipper, but the cool thing is you can make 2 compartments – thus the bottom zipper can open to a separate compartment, which I’ll reserve for less important gear, like dirty laundry. There is a side zipper, but that is also secured by two clips that you have to tighten. Not perfect by any means. I might learn my lesson and pick up a new one along the way. For now we’ll see how this one rides.
@James Schipper – Thanks James! It really felt right… SO RIGHT with it on. I walked up and down the stairs of the store (with weights inside the pack) and if felt light. However, ask me in 6 mos. if I still feel the same way. :)
@Erica – Arcteryx is supposedly a reputable name. Definitely worth a look at in your search. Good luck with it!
@Mark – Glad another Vancouverite backs me up. I knew little about these bags. Tried the Gregory Deva at MEC and it just didn’t match up.
@Jenn – Screw that, I can’t wait to do renos at your place. Just take me to the hospital when I staple gun my hand. :-D
@Alison – The weird thing is, I didn’t realize it was my favourite colour until after the purchase. :)
@Kathy 62L is not a bad size if you are going through a lot of climates. One pair of jeans and one warm, long sleeve shirt take up a lot of room. I would definitely leave some extra room at the top when you are packing, though, as you’ll probably end up picking up a few things here and there.
I would also make sure that you have someone adjust it to your size, if it hasn’t been already. It makes a huge difference.
Can I join you???? Pretty please? Hey, let me know when you’ll be in Toronto!
Awesome, congrats!
I can’t wait to see what it looks like full. Pics! Hope you can wear it without tipping over!
Ummm, this is absolute perfection! LOVE the color AND the price!!! Are you going to sew on any cool patches?
Great Choice! Arcteryx makes makes awesome stuff; I think you’ll be happy with it.
You’ll find your office in the dark with those colours (great pick!)
“Hydration bladder pocket”, “sleeping bag compartment”, “ice axe holders” – I thought you were a traveler, not a mountaineer…. 62L is definitely on the big side – how much does it weigh empty? And BTW, fanny packs are a bad idea from a security perspective. Sorry not to be more positive, but this sounds like a trekker’s pack, not a traveler’s.
Looks similar to mine, though mine is more of a city version. Congrats!
Great color! I have a few people that have suggested an Arcteryx. I’m still looking around. :P
Congrats on the pack!
Nice choice! I’ve always been very happy with my Arc’teryx bags.
Oh… she’s a beauty! Can’t wait to meet her. :)
LOVE the colour! (Much better than a cubicle) :)
