Welcome to Gypsy Wednesday! Every Wednesday, I strive to highlight all the juicy morsels related to travel and beyond.
My graduation to techie nomadism has arrived. Au revoir clunky Dell, bonjour monsieur Air. Isn’t he handsome? I swoon over the dimple in the centre.
What can he offer me? Rapid fire operating system, 3 light pounds on my back, full control of audio, video and photos. The best Lavalife profile a gal ever saw.
Behold!
What gadget could you not do without??

@Michael – Thanks for commenting & sounds like your trip will be damn cool. Oh yes, the age old PC vs Mac debate. You really have to ask yourself if you want to haul around two computers. Lots of blogging couples do, so no huge problem there. As for which one you should use, I’d base it on what photo programs you utilize. Many like Picasa, which I’m told operate well with PC’s. iPhoto is alright, but a very basic photo uploader and editor. Now, if you’re getting into Lightroom & Photoshop, it seems to me the better machine is Mac. Sorry, PC boy, once you try Mac, you never go back. Anyhoo, take a look at what other tools you plan to use to keep the blog running and that might help you figure out which machine is best. I think you know which way I lean. Good luck! :)
Greetings,
Love your blog. My wife and I are planning an upcoming year long RTW trip but we have a problem. I’m a PC and she’s a Mac and unlike us they don’t get along. Will we only be able to blog on one computer or the other?
My latest kick ass post is..Trump takes credit- but for what
I’ve been using a cheap PC netbook for travel but the new 11″ MacBook Air is really appealing to me for it’s weight reduction and keeping with the Mac platform. Do you think having the glowing Apple logo attracts any unwanted attention? Do you put it in hostel safes when you’re out and about?
I got an Air a few months ago and I absolutely love it, particularly since I’m on the travel trail for the next year or two!
@Nomadic Chick – Nope :) I used to carry an old Nokia just in case but ended up using so little I never have it with me.
@Anil – No way. I had to read that twice. No cell phone. But, smartphone at least?
Awesome!! As for me, I think the only tech gear I don’t have is a cell phone.
@ayngelina – I hear ya, girl. That’s my life too. Cords. Sooo many of them.
@Adam – Dude, I totally thought you had an iPhone.
@Eli – I’m guessing you have one?? If not the Air, a Pro?
@Alison – LOL. How much of a geek is he?? In other words, how many gadgets?
@The Longest Way Home – Nice to see you D., been a while! I never thought Apple was much, just hype, but it really is a good product. Somehow I knew you would say “camera”. :)
I have too many gadgets as well: netbook, DSLR with 3 lenses, p&s camera, skype headset, ipod.
And so many cords…
I wish I could give one ofthem up but I can´t.
I quickly learned I can’t live without my iPod touch. It’s so portable and small, it’s easy to pull it out and find wifi on the go.
What a sleek and beautiful piece of machinery… Love the music in the video, too. Hello MacBook Air!
Congrats! I couldn’t live without my camera or my lap-top. Having a geek for a husband means there are always gadgets laying around our place.
Congrats on the purchase! Not an apple fan myself, but anything that reduces weight is good.
Personally I am gadget weighed down. Couldn’t do without the camera though :)
