Welcome to Gypsy Wednesday! Every Wednesday, I strive to highlight all the juicy morsels related to travel and beyond.
You knew this was coming. Joel Ward and I charted parallel launching dates to our round the world adventures months ago. A secondary commonality that may not be obvious is our tender ages. A vast number of our fellow world explorers are under thirty, clearly Joel and I are middle-aged. Listen with admiration and awe as Joel shatters preconceived notions of age, shares his burgeoning dreams, and compliments that damn talented Keith Savage.

@Candice – I totally thought I responded to your compliment. My bad. I once did some radio hosting, probably before you were born. :)
Love the interview, good luck Joel!! And Jeannie, you should be a radio host. :)
@ayngelina – Really? I look forward to that discovery!
Jeannie you will be surprised how many people in their 30s are traveling alone. At first I thought I’d be far older than everyone else but there are loads of us in Central America
@Anil – Thanks Anil! I can’t pretend, done radio before and realized my loud, booming voice is useful for something. :)
Enjoyed the podcast, Jeannine you’ve got a good voice for it. Keep them coming!
Andy – it’ll be a lot more fun in 17 days when I leave the office for the last time!
Sounds like you’re all having fun already! :-)
@Keith – I think one of the things that’s been great since I started telling people about this is that most people are either a) very, very excited for me or b) have done something similar in their younger days. I didn’t expect nearly as much of that kind of support.
@Bruno – part of why I’m starting to talk about it is to get me in gear to do it. If I promise it to people other than myself, I’m nearly certain to follow through on it. So, I hereby promise to do it!
@Kathy – thank you! The most awesome part is how loosely planned it is – that’s not something I’m used to but I look forward to a little less structure in my life.
@Brian – give me a couple months to get into decent shape and I’ll take you on: man vs. machine ;) Well, okay, maybe not. But I’ll burn more calories!
@Maggie – thank you Maggie! Too bad you’ll be on the flip side of the equator for most of our timing but things will most definitely change along the way.
@ Alison – Thank you! Jeannie definitely deserves the credit – I just blather on and on if I’m not focused properly :)
Wow, thanks everyone! Glad the interview was enjoyable. I’ll let Joel respond to each individually. Ta!
Great interview guys!
So nice to finally hear both of you! I’m starting my rtw in 44 days (but who’s counting?) and I’m one of those ancient, older travelers too. Hopefully we’ll all cross paths one of these days. Have fun on your trips!
Good job you two. Now go have a blast on both of your trips!
Great interview – cool to hear you both. Sounds like an awesome trip.
Excellent discussion of traveling without a rigid itinerary, either for the trip, or your future endeavors. It will be interesting to follow. I hope you do the novel.
Great interview! Joel, so glad to hear your employer was so receptive and encouraging about your plans. Also appreciate the kind words.
