After 20 hours, 1 bus breakdown, and a mall drop off yours truly made it to Toronto. Â First impression is yup, I’ve landed in a bustling city. Â I greeted my friend, Kori who promptly reminded me that I’ve arrived just as the hottest summer is about to sizzle. Â Good grief. Â Decent training for India? Â Bloody yes.

Some things I hope to check out while I’m here.
- Drink my fill at the Distillery District.
- Eat some damn good pasta in Little Italy. Â Oh, and gelato.
- Explore St. Lawrence Market and eat a falafel wrap for $3.00 or halibut for $10.00. Â Hells yeah.
- Hop the ferry to all the islands off Lake Shore Avenue. Â Saw Center Island today courtesy of Alicia of Life Behind the Lens.
- Wander like I’m lost, cause I will be until the iPhone arrives!

@Carol – Very excited to meet up with you as well. Frankly, pretty tired of staring at a computer all day!
Nomadic Chick! I’m excited about seeing you in TO! I’m trying to think of where we should go … somewhere that is not Queen Street, or St Lawrence Market or anywhere else you’ve been. BTW – there’s a travel bloggers tweet up on Thursday. Are you in?
@SHABL – I’ll try. Thanks for the tip!
@eurotriptips – Thanks for the compliments and thanks for stopping by. I’d love to mull over life in Montreal. Will email you when I arrive.
Have lunch or dinner in the CN Tower, you’ll never forget it.
I just discovered your website and I love it. I hope you enjoy your Canadian journey, come visit us in Montreal and I’ll tell you all about it!
@Maria Staal – Hehe.. I can’t wait to check it out!
@Candice – I hope to stop by your area, lady! Hang in there. :)
@Andi – I’m liking it so far, too! Pretty big city with a village feel.
@Cornelius Aesop – When I explore it, pics & reviews coming up.
@Nathan – Wonderful! I’ll try to show Toronto in some light. Be interested to read your take when the time comes.
@Mark – That isn’t cheap, but as you said, might be worth it. I get the sense you revert to boyhood when a dinosaur appears?
Okay as a true foodie I have to tell you to dump St. Lawrence Market and go to Kensington Market next to Chinatown. St.Lawrence is for people who want to pay more (think Whole Foods) and Kensington has the most wonderful multi-ethnic collection.
Tourists go to St.Lawrence, foodies go to Kensington.
Biggest tip- there is a Latin grocery store where two women are in the back selling pupusas and other latin food for a buck or two. It’s amazing.
The Distilery District is absolutely great! One of my favourite places in the city. I wish I was there now eating some gelato…
Happy adventures! Woooo. I’ve yet to experience Toronto…I hear it’s exciting. Come visit your fellow laid-off friend. :)
I really liked Toronto! I wish I could remember the name of the art gallery I went to–it blew me away. Btw, the best H&M store I’ve ever been to is at the main mall.
I’ll have to keep these in mind whenever I find my way to Toronto. I’m waiting for a friend’s paperwork to go through so she can move their from Peru, then off to visit and explore this Distillery District you speak of.
sounds like some fun things you have planned – we will be going there early next year as well – can’t wait!
If you have time, you really should visit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). It’s not the cheapest of attractions ($24 + $7 for the The Warrior Emperor and China’s Terracotta Army exhibit), but it’s a world class museum. They have dinosaurs.
